With Vanesa Anaya-Aldana, Visual Designer, HireArt
The Recruiting team at HireArt is responsible for candidate qualifying, vetting, and providing an excellent interview experience. I sat down with one of the team's recruiters, Cecilia Torres, to learn about her expertise and passion for making impactful connections in her recruitment journey.
As a recruiter at HireArt, my role extends beyond simply filling positions. I’m dedicated to enhancing the perception and value of contract employment, making it as rewarding as permanent employment. My focus is on elevating the candidate experience from the first interaction, with a commitment to thoroughness, empathy, and transparency, offering regular and supportive check-ins throughout the interview process. Another part of my role involves ensuring the delivery of top-tier candidates to our clients, which requires meticulous precision and unwavering persistence.
Let's rewind to 2015. I was part of the Talent Acquisition team at a small BPO company specializing in technical support for IoT devices and help desk services for large corporations. Starting as a recruiting coordinator, I managed all administrative tasks, which provided me with a thorough understanding of the candidate experience and the nuances of recruiting. My role soon expanded to a recruiter, involving strategic sourcing, initial interviews, and fostering relationships with staffing partners, honing my skills in full-cycle recruitment across diverse roles including engineering, operations, marketing, and sales.
That’s a great question! Nowadays, candidates particularly value feedback, and I prioritize giving thoughtful and constructive feedback as much as possible. Keeping candidates well-informed at every stage naturally fosters a connection, making them feel valued and engaged. I believe transparency is crucial; open communication strengthens relationships and ensures positive experiences for both candidates and clients.
One of the best tips I can offer candidates is to optimize your resume, AI tools can help you do this efficiently. Some AI tools can analyze job descriptions and help you customize your resume to match specific requirements and desired skills employers seek. Of course, I also emphasize the importance of ensuring your resume accurately reflects your experience. This approach greatly enhances your chances of successfully navigating the sourcing process, being contacted by recruiters, and making a strong first impression with hiring managers.
Nail those job descriptions. Highlight what’s great about working at your company, such as its values, company culture, perks, and other benefits. Also, be upfront about pay; candidates really value transparency and are more likely to be drawn to jobs where they know what to expect right from the start.
When I’m not sourcing candidates, I’m sourcing for plants online and in local nurseries. I'm a passionate plant enthusiast! I love discovering unique plants from all across the world and have been very lucky to find some uniquely beautiful plants from Southeast Asia and South America.
But of course, I also love spending time with my family (two beautiful boys) and my chubby cat, Charles!
That would have to be honey-glazed salmon. I usually prepare this by marinating salmon filets in a delicious blend of honey, soy sauce, and garlic, resulting in a sweet and savory dish that's both flavorful and healthy and pairs well with a bowl of white rice. I love to cook, but haven’t yet mastered baking! 🥧
