How Pony.ai fixed industry-specific compliance and safety issues with their contract workforce by improving onboarding, background checks, and ongoing monitoring, all within the HireArt platform

The majority of contract workers at Pony.ai work on their autonomous vehicle testing and vehicle operations teams. Due to the safety sensitive nature of the role — contractors are testing vehicles on live roads — employment includes complex compliance requirements, as dictated by the California DMV.
HireArt platform and compliance team provided Pony the ability to assess their current contract workforce to identify any MVR violations on their driving records and continuously monitor them moving forward so they are not exposed to additional risk.
Pony had been working with TCW Global as an EOR for all of their contract workforce. But the issue of compliance and monitoring operator driving records was not addressed. Several drivers had violations on their record that Pony was not aware of and as a result had their testing permits suspended, hugely disrupting operations.
