Job Description

HireArt is helping the world's largest social network find a Human State Modeling Researcher to collaborate with researchers and engineers to build AR/VR prototypes and experiments that explore novel technologies, interface concepts, and models. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience analyzing and modeling data for human participants. 

This team aims to build models of user cognitive state and interaction behavior, and then serve them adaptive interfaces that help them achieve their goals more efficiently and with greater delight. This role is on a true research & development team – you will have the opportunity to work with leading experts in AR/VR, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, user experience research, and design. In this group, you will be able to define research questions, explore them, and implement your discoveries into adaptive interfaces to explore how they operate in a true closed-loop system.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 1-year contract position based in Redmond, WA. This position will be performed fully remotely until offices reopen. 

As Human State Modeling Researcher, you will: 

  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to build AR/VR prototypes and experiments that explore novel technologies, interface concepts, and models.
  • Analyze quantitative data from experiments to draw insights on core research problems.
  • Build and maintain analysis pipelines.
  • Write reports documenting research findings.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing and modeling data for human participants
  • 3+ years of experience writing code to analyze and model quantitative data with Python or R
  • 3+ years of experience using a variety of inferential statistics, computational models, and machine learning
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including cross-group collaboration and cross-culture collaboration
  • Strong written and verbal communication and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in computer science, human-computer interaction, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or a related field
  • Proven track record of achieving research results and innovation as demonstrated by first-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals/conferences and/or patents
  • Experience with Unity development.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR technologies and literature

Commitment: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 1-year contract position through HireArt and based in Redmond, WA. This position will be performed fully remotely until offices reopen.
